Mexicans pronounce BMW as
“V e emmee doble uu”
Spanish people say
“Ve emee uvee”
French people say
Ve emm do ble bee ”
BMW is pronounced
“ Bee emm double uu” in English
So, we say “doble u ” instead of “u ve”
Soo... as prononced in Mexico, BMW is an anglicism.... an adaptaion of a term in English... but why?

Logically, that indicates that the Japanese pick that up from the German “Beh em veh”, despite Japanese Romanization conforming to English pronunciation.
Which, okay, is a really Japaneseishly perverse thing to do.

Bay em-ay doublayvay. (SIC) Is how I say it in my head, to myself, in Spanish.

Well, it seems the RAE has admitted (albeit only in part) a calque from English! Good heavens! Any sources?
Please note that out of sheer laziness in Peninsular Spanish most people read BMW.... as if it were BM
